During my time in Arizona, I felt there were few states in the USA more dedicated to the game of golf, a warm climate, Sonoran Desert scenery, fabulous resorts, and world-class courses make Arizona an internationally recognised golf holiday destination.

Outside of the hot summer months is the best time to play.  Most days are dry and sunny with cooler evenings, I would recommend late-morning tee times as there can be early morning frost during the winter months.

Although golf is the main tourist attraction in the winter, Arizona is also the home of the Grand Canyon National Park, Red Rock State Park, and the Sonora Desert. Visitors and locals enjoy spectacular views and breathtaking scenery across the state.

For me, Scottsdale is the epicentre, with over 200 courses in the Scottsdale Valley, including TPC Scottsdale, you are spoilt for choice on your holiday.

Having spent some time in Arizona in a coaching capacity, I quickly learned my way around and played many of the courses on offer. The prime site of Desert Mountain, overlooking the valley, is home to seven great courses. All courses have excellent practice facilities, so if you don’t feel like playing one day, then hit a few balls, or have a bit of fun at Top Golf, located on route to the airport.

If you can tear yourself away from the golf courses, you can experience the wonderful dining in Scottsdale. Microbreweries, pubs and wine bars have all popped up in recent times in this trendy town, believe me there is no shortage of anything! The Old Town Scottsdale is a destination for visitors and local food lovers alike.

For more information on the golf courses and my preferred hotels and resorts, please feel free to give me a call and I’d be delighted to chat through possible itineraries and organise the perfect golf holiday to Arizona for you.
