ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE Wimereux Golf Course is one of most traditional links courses in France. Once you arrive in Northern France, Wimereux is the first golf course you pass as you drive towards Le Touquet. Built on the land where Napoleon stationed his troops before his planned attack on England, Wimereux Golf Course dates from 1908. It perches on the cliffs above the English Channel and on a clear day you can see the White Cliffs of Dover. On a windy day you feel you will be blown all the way there! From the opening hole to the last, the fairways are quite generous but the bunkers and greens are well-placed and it’s a course you have to think around. Holes 2 to 4 are tricky but you can then build a score until Hole 13 - unless the wind is blowing, then you’ll have to hit low to keep in play. The greens are excellent and the course has undergone a lot of surgery in recent years to make it even more attractive. Whatever the weather, we enjoy this course and lovers of links will understand its subtlety. The food in the simple but welcoming clubhouse is good. Buggies available.
